Surry County, NC Crash Kills 5
A deadly North Carolina car accident on Interstate 77 in Surry County Friday has now claimed five lives.
Wayne and Natalie Hicks from New York, as well as their children, 2-year-old Natalya and 9-year-old Wayne Jr., died in the crash.
59-year-old Brian Mowry was in the pickup the Hicks’ van hit. He passed away Saturday. The other occupant of that truck, 57-year-old Sandra Mowry, is still in critical condition.

Rescuers took three other Hicks children to Baptist Hospital. The Hicks’ family pastor says 9-year-old Elijah, 5-year-old John and 4-year-old Josiah are doing fine and recovering.
Doctors treated and released 49-year-old Bonnie Weddle, who is the driver of the third car.
Investigators say the Hicks minivan crossed over the median and ran into oncoming traffic. Authorities believe the father fell asleep at the wheel.
