Virginia Man Sentenced after 2008 Marlyand Car Crash
A Virginia man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for vehicular manslaughter for his involvement in an August 2008 auto accident in Maryland that killed a 10-year-old Twinsburg girl.
According to Maryland Assistant State Attorney Paul Zmuda, Michael Dean Eaton, 33, of Fairfax, Va., pleaded guilty to both vehicular manslaughter and failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving death before Circuit Court of Montgomery County Judge David Boynton July 30. He was sentenced by Boynton immediately following his pleas.
“We were asking for 10 years,” Zmuda said July 31. “But we’re satisfied with the verdict.”
Neither Howard Cheris nor Phil Armstrong, two of three Maryland-based attorneys representing Eaton, returned a call seeking comment. A third attorney, Ben Vaughn, could not be reached for comment.
Eaton turned himself in to the Rockville Barrack Post of the Maryland State Police Department Aug. 22, 2008, one day after a two-car accident that killed Jasmine Warr, 10, and the family dog. Injured in the accident were Warr’s 11-year-old sister, Cortavia Harris, and the sisters’ grandparents, William and Angela Warr, also of Twinsburg.
