A 12-year-old boy died Tuesday in a four-car accident, police said.
A pickup waiting to turn left off the highway was rear-ended by a car and pushed into oncoming traffic.
An approaching driver tried to avoid the truck but lost control and struck another vehicle on the highway.
The boy, a passenger in the car that went out of control, died at the scene.
That car’s driver and a passenger in it were taken to area hospitals. The passenger was reportedly in stable condition; the driver’s condition was not known.
No one else was seriously injured.
The boy has not been identified.
